Thank you, all of our members and friends, who have given generously to this cause. This year we have collected bags of knitting and weaving wool, 4 sewing machines, buttons, beads, pieces of broken jewellery that can be sewn on to decorate things, material – both furnishing type and counted canvas, embroidery silks, lots of knitting needles and some tools from fathers who no longer need them. Can you imagine the joy these young people will have learning to knit or sew or make things with your gifts?
Many of these young people have lost a generation of elders to teach them the skills in the way we learn from our mums and dads and grannies and grandads. The goods are used to teach scholars in the African villages how to do things and then they are given Starter Packs to go and make things to sell at market. Wonderful idea isn’t it? Brenda Simpson
Our last collection date is the first week of September, so please contact Brenda on 01738 710094 if you have things that can be sent. It will all be collected by van soon after this.
