Noo' Simmer Dim has slipped awa,
And Nicht's are drawing in;
Tis Nature's time tae draw a braith,
Afore the Winter's Snaw.
The Whaup and Osprey noo awa,
Nae mair wi' hear them cry;
But sin the Greylags frae the North,
In Skiene's will cross the Sky.
Frae aff the hill some Gimmers come,
Tae Pastures doon the Brae;
Wi' Kye noo safely gethered in,
Hiv bedded doon in Hay.
Noo up yon Glen the Rut is on,
Whaur Stags fecht ane anither;
The Hinds they share, will a' depend,
Wha's strongest and the fitter.
The Day is o'or, then noo the Nicht,
Wi' darkness soon 'fas doon;
Ahent the Hill, high in the Sky,
Behold, the Hairvest Moon.
Jack McNeill, Birnam
As a patient at Craigvinean and former surgery I wish, in just a small poetic way, to address the recent retirement of Dr Wright.
Thanks Dr Wright
For all your good care
Your good sense of humour
Was always there
A pat on the back
You often did say
“You will live
Have a good day”
Whether at home
Or Surgery
So good to see you
Whatever way
So Happy Retirement
I don’t mean to mock
So keep healthy
And don’t need the Doc
