We would like to invite you to the next four meetings of the Historical Society.
The meetings all take place at 7:30pm in Birnam Arts in the Main Hall and we have the hearing loop in operation. We have decided for this year that we will have a meetings charge of £2 for any member or visitors attending. This replaces the membership fee and if you could bring cash that would be appreciated.
October 23rd 7:30pm Complementing the Birnam Book Festival we have Lara Hagerty on Holinshed Chronicles from 1577 which contains the original Macbeth story. The book is from the Innerpeffray Library and there is a fascinating story behind the Chronicles and Shakespeare use of them.
November 20th Warren Bailey from Guard Archaeology on the Bertha Roman Fort dig (you will have seen this underway when the Tay Crossing Bridge was being built)
Monday 19th February 2024 AGM February Professor Boardman Edinburgh on the Wolf of Badenoch
March 18th 2024 Paul McLennan on Dunkeld and Birnam Station plus Nikki Herbertson with a display about the Station Action Group and possibly a film of the signal box.
We look forward to seeing you at our winter meetings Dave Roberts on behalf of the Historical Society Committee.
