There are times when alone
I by the square have held
And walk to the Cathedral
When I am in Dunkeld
I find it such a lovely place
Quiet in the morning air
The trees, the grounds, the river
And all else that is there
Within the early mornings cold
The robins song resounds
And yet not far from the town
Such feelings here abounds
Especially now the New Year
For like the flowing Tay
The year that has past
It is swept away
Whatever lies before us all
Thank God we do not know
But by those walls a comfort
Of now and long ago
Thought not a religious man
But on a New Years Day
By Dunkeld’s Cathedral
Yes, silently I pray
