Since November a small miracle has been happening at Dunkeld Guide Hall, turning the building into a resource fit for the 21st century – and you will soon have the chance to see the transformation for yourself. Everyone is cordially invited to the Grand reopening of the Guide Hall on Friday the 21st of June at 7pm.
The transformation has been made possible by generous grant support of £98,225.49 from Rural Perth & Kinross LEADER Programme 2014-2020: The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas. This was match funded by grants from SSE Griffin and Calliachar Wind Farm Fund, The Gannochy Trust and The Roberston Trust. Additional funding was provided by the Foyle Foundation and the Janet Keppie Fund.
The Guide Hall was built in the 1930s gifted to the Guides and Brownies in Dunkeld by a Mrs Briggs who lived locally at Dalbeathie and had a keen interest in the Girlguiding movement. The land on which the hall was built was donated to the Guides by Atholl Estates in the 1950s. For over 80 years the hall has provided a vital home for the Girlguiding movement in Dunkeld and Birnam. However, the hall facilities were in need of an upgrade in order to meet with today’s needs, of both the Girlguiding groups and the other users such as Dunkeld and Birnam Playgroup.
With its transformation we hope that the Guide Hall will continue, for the next 80 years, to give all girls their own space where they can build their confidence and discover their full potential, so that they can become a powerful force for good in our community and in the world.
The ribbon cutting and speeches will be at 7pm, followed by refreshments and guided tours of the hall. If you cannot make 7pm you are very welcome to pop in any time until 8.30pm.
