Dunkeld and Birnam Beavers and Cubs have had a very exciting term.
The Beavers have been splashing about in burns, going on bike rides and playing tennis at the Tennis Club.
They also had an amazing evening being piped over the bridge to meet Danish military veterans. The Beavers and veterans exchanged flags and enjoyed some chat and time together.
The Cubs have met with staff from Corbenic to hear about different countries and cultures which included Brazil, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Denmark and Hungary. They helped to do some weeding and planting up, to brighten things up at the school.
The big excitement though was our group camp! 19 Cubs and 17 Beavers went to Meggernie Scout Centre in Glen Lyon. The Cubs spent a night in tents and the Beavers enjoyed time in shared bunk bed rooms. The Cubs and Beavers spent time learning camping and survival skills, including how to put up tents and making and cooking bread on a fire.
The Cubs and Beavers worked together on a Survival Challenge building shelters and learning about food and water requirements.
Everyone had an amazing time and everyone went home very very tired, the Leaders and parents on the camp have only just recovered.
We will be finishing the term with a Group BBQ and games.
We are already looking ahead to our next session, which will include record number of Beavers and Cubs in Dunkeld. If anyone would be interesting in volunteering with us please get in touch. Also, if anyone or any organisations have any thoughts on any ways we can work together or help each other out please get in contact also.
