We are very pleased that the MUGA continues to be very well used- recent new activities include netball (trial sessions at 4-6pm Sunday afternoon) and boot camp/martial arts training (Saturday 12-2pm)- please come and join in these and the many other activities on offer. We will post information on all these activities on the Dunkeld and Birnam Sports and Leisure Hub Facebook and Instagram pages.
Unfortunately, there was a significant and dangerous incident at the MUGA in April. This involved the release of fireworks which damaged the roof of the MUGA and could have caused serious injury. Due to the nature of the incident, the Hub Committee decided to pass over the relevant CCTV footage to the police to deal with the situation. We have now completed the repair to the roof. We very much appreciate the support of everyone who has expressed their shock and disapproval at the incident, reiterated the value of the new MUGA facility and the strength of feeling that this type of incident cannot happen again.
The main outstanding issue with the MUGA project is the car park. As many people are aware the new car park, between the Hub and Medical Centre, is unusable after wet weather. We are therefore progressing the option of laying hard core over the car park. This work requires consent from PKC, from whom we sub lease the land, and the Church who own the land. As soon as we have these approvals, we intend to progress with the improvements to the car park.
Finally, we have had a good response to membership in the new membership year which started at the beginning of April. If you want to join the MUGA, tennis or bowls (or indeed all three!) please go to:
https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/DunkeldandBirnamSportsandLeisureHub/Membership/Join
Fees are extremely reasonably priced for the facilities on offer, and free for under 16s or those in full time education (apart from a small £5 fee to join the tennis club). Alternatively, if you would like to make a donation to the club please email dbsportsleisurehub@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you over the summer playing netball/tennis/bowls/football/ hockey/etc!
