Drama Festival in Birnam

The Perthshire round of the annual Festival of One Act Plays organised by the Scottish Community Drama Association will take in Birnam Institute 0n Friday 2nd and Saturday 3th March starting at 7pm each evening.
Teams from Aberfeldy Drama Club, Birnam Institute Players (BIPS) and Unmasqued Theatre Co, (Youth) from Perth will be competing for the right to appear in the Divisional Festival which will also be in Birnam, between the 22nd and 24th March.
Unmasqued will also be entitled to appear in the Divisional Youth Festival in Carnoustie on the 31st. The adjudicator for the District Festival will be Alasdair Hawthorn, a well respected and experienced adjudicator. Three plays will be performed each evening. BIPS have put forward three original plays written by Bob Davidson, a local playwright who never fails to keep the audience entertained while also leaving them something to think about, Aberfeldy will present two plays. Once Upon A Seashore follows a family’s seaside holidays through the first 70 years or so of the 20th Century while Descent shows the impact of early-onset dementia on a family. Unmasqued will present The Blues Sisters in which a group of young people band together to prevent the local dance school from being closed.
Tickets will cost £10 (£7 for under 16s) and are available from Birnam Institute and from participating clubs.
