Applepressing at Auchtergaven Primary School
Andrew Lear a.k.a. Appletreeman, our very own Bankfoot local apple expert, came in to Auchtergaven Primary School at the end of October to give a demonstration of apple pressing to the P1/2 and P2/3 classes.
Both kids and teachers found it very interesting and there were opportunities for the kids to get involved hands-on with the machinery for first mashing and then pressing of the apples.
A variety of apples were brought in by parents and kids, some of which were picked at the Dunkeld and Birnam community orchard.
Feedback from the kids overheard on the day included “This is the very best apple juice I’ve ever drank!”
