Dunkeld & Birnam Guides - New Challenge?
I want a new challenge – I want to do something for local children – I want to be part of a team – I want to be one of 10 million - IS THAT YOU?
Girlguiding is the biggest global organisation for women.
Girlguiding Dunkeld needs more adult leaders and helpers – or some groups might have to close as they are currently in suspension. They are the youngest group in Girlguiding, girls aged 5 -7. They have been meeting at the Dunkeld Guide Hall on Thursdays from 5-6pm (this time is not set in stone and could be adjusted to suit adult leaders). Rainbows follow a varied programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw. Everything a Rainbow does helps her to develop – it’s an opportunity to look, learn, laugh and love. A team of 2-3 leaders/assistants is needed to keep this group going.
If you prefer to work with slightly older girls, the Brownies (aged 7 – 10) meet also on Thursdays from 6.30 – 8pm. Their programme is called the Brownie Adventure – a name that speaks for itself. Brown Owl (that’s what they call their leader) is still in residence, but needs an assistant or two.
For those more interested in youth work, Guides (10 - 14) and Senior Section (14+), while not under threat at the moment, could also do with extra help – either for weekly meeting or camps or both.
As a Guide Leader, you will receive training and support from Girlguiding UK on both a local and regional level. No previous knowledge is necessary, but patience and a sense of fun are important.
Experience as a Guider is valued by professional childcare organizations and can be helpful to get into teacher training.
