Highland Perthshire Communities Partnership
Broadband project expands across Dalguise and A9 corridor area
The project to bring a better broadband service to Highland Perthshire (HP) continues as HPCP and partner PGL Dalguise link up to connect a part of HP that suffers from connection speeds of 0.5mbps or less. This service will allow PGL to continue to grow their business and secure more employment in the area for years to come.
This very welcome addition brings the HPCP network to 50 subscribers (monthly contracts), 75 seasonal subscribers, 18 small businesses, 5 commercial enterprises, a regular service to the Blair Castle Horse Trials plus over 12,000 annual users at Blair Castle Caravan Park.
The network jointly funded, initially, by Perth & Kinross Council (PKC), Griffin Wind Farm Fund and Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) has 4 transmitters; Pitlochry (2), Struan and now at Rotmell serving Dalguise and surrounding communities. This offers wide geographic coverage with options to connect more premises as and when the opportunity arises.
HPCP chairman Graham Huggins commented, “The Dalguise phase of the project is a tremendous example of a commercial enterprise and its local community getting together, in this case Dalguise residents and PGL, and working closely to achieve a common goal. Great credit must also go to PGL for their foresight in recognising the benefits of our service to their business and community and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership”.
