BSYFC are pleased to announce that we have secured McDonalds programme support for this year, in conjunction with the Scottish FA, to assist us with player/coach development and creating a positive club environment. This beneficial support has been granted, due to the club’s progress and development as a community level, quality marked club - and fulfilment of governance, people and club environment criteria. This includes maintaining a high level of coaching standards, having club development plans and policies in place, a functional club structure and constitution, as well as providing evidence of additional community activity, meeting health and safety requirements and being an actively positive coaching club.
The club aims to develop specific coach education, player training sessions and a club curriculum through the McDonalds programme, which will provide us with 68 hours of professional coaching advice per week, for 10 months, from our mentor, Danny Griffin, and with particular involvement of 2 of our coaches - Rab Murdoch and Scott McBride. The club also hopes to develop a clear philosophy, grow links with St Johnstone FC, establish a Performance Academy and a Saturday Soccer School, whilst being able to continue in providing afterschool football, school taster sessions and a community football day - which will take place on Sun 13th August in Aberfeldy, this year.
These club developments are part of a wider plan, to increase the opportunities for all people in Highland Perthshire to improve their fitness and well-being through football activities, and are possible, thanks to the fantastic support of local businesses through sponsorship, grants that the club has received (Rotary, SSE Calliacher & Griffin, Awards for All), and this year, a significant donation from the Edradour Distillery that will result in a substantial benefit across the club and for implementing the plan.
A component of player/coach development, has been to enable the club to cover the costs (£27.50 per player) of the U14, U13, U12 and U11 squads to participate in a 6 week training session block at St Johnstone through the Saints in the Community programme, with coaching support from Danny Griffin, Atholl Henderson and the other St Johnstone coaches, thanks to support from Edradour. The Saints coaches have all been impressed by the effort and application that the boys have shown in the sessions, and the club plans to attend further training blocks, and for the U10 and U9 teams to benefit from them, in due course.
BSYFC always welcome new players across all age groups from across all of Highland Perthshire - please don't hesitate to contact us to find out more.'
