Harvest Lunch & Appeal
Harvest Lunch - After the service on November 5th. the Cathedral congregation will be having a lunch in the Duchess Anne to raise money for this year’s harvest appeal. Tickets are £10 for adults, primary school children are free and secondary school age are £5. Tickets will be going on sale so on at church on Sundays.
Harvest Appeal - It is still possible to make a donation to the Harvest Appeal.
This year we are supporting a Salvation Army project to provide clean water for communities in Kenya and other parts of Africa. The money we give will help with the building of sand dams. A concrete dam is backed up with sand which filters out impurities so that the water which flows through is safe to drink. But is has a double benefit because as the water builds up behind the dam it raises the water table in the surrounding land enabling people to grow crops on a larger area and extends the growing season giving better crops.
It is worth having a look on-line at the some of the stories (www.salvationarmy.org.uk/watershed-stories) to see the transformation in people’s lives brought about by a regular supply of clean water.
