Tay Thistle 2000
The Bowl – or to give it its proper name, Jeanfeild Recreation Ground – is one of Perth's most famous sporting institutions. Situated opposite the PRI Hospital has been home to many different clubs over the years. It has hosted many junior football teams, with crowds of up to 7000 people witnessing one particular Junior Scottish cup tie just after the second world war.
It is also now home to a well-known amateur club Tay Thistle which have now been joined by a boys team which play in the Perth and Kinross Youth FA ranks and they are the TAY THISLE 2000 who now play home matches at the ground.
"We have been playing under the Letham banner and last season were runners-up in the league," said manager Kevin Clark.
"Now Tay Thistle has taken us under their wing and we have a squad of 17 players, one of which is Robbie Roper who is grandson of Joan Brookes and her son Shaun Roper who is one of the coaching team.
"The lads are ecstatic about the season ahead and we are grateful for the assistance given to us by Derek Conway [manager] Tay Thistle.
"As this is a new season for us we are looking for some sponsors for the team so we can purchase new training and match kit plus other training equipment".
