(the Sports Hall project)
Agreement with D and B Sports and Leisure Hub
As announced in the last “Bridge” the Leisure Group has granted £30,000 towards towards the Hub’s Covered MUGA project. A significant proportion of this was raised in memory of Robbie Melvin, who died in a tragic road accident in 2005, by Kate Stansfield (Robbie's mum) and many friends. The two groups will work together to commemorate Robbie as part of the MUGA project.
The basis for this grant is a Memorandum of Understanding between the two groups which says that:
1.The Leisure Group (LG) supports the Hub’s proposal for the covered MUGA in the context of the Masterplan. The Hub and LG agree that the first stage of development of the Masterplan will be the covered MUGA plus the associated car park and electrical infrastructure upgrade.
2. The Hub MUGA Development Committee will undertake the covered MUGA project. The Development Committee will include representation from local interested groups including the LG. The committee will consider and explore options for the flooring, weather proofing and possibly enlarging the building with the aim of the facility being suitable for as wide a range of activities as practical.
3. The Hub are committed to realising the other elements of the Masterplan, including an indoor sports hall/facility and upgrading of the existing club house facilities The Hub will form a committee to consider planning of these elements of the Masterplan.
4. The LG shall make funds available to the Hub for the possibly enhanced covered MUGA, including the related car parking and electrical upgrade which are required for all elements of the Masterplan.
5. The LG remains a distinct legal body for the purposes of holding and administering its funds with a view to meeting its constitutional purposes including community needs assessment.
