In collaboration with the local Coop shop and other local food retailers, Climate Cafe are going to set up a Food Share project locally.
The aim is to avoid food waste by making the “best before” food available free to the community for collection.
We think we’ll start small by having a stall outside the Duchess Anne on a Friday morning, with the kind cooperation of the Church. We also hope eventually to have donations from local gardeners who have a glut of fruit or Vegetables which they could share. After the Art Exhibition we hope to have a freezer in the Duchess Anne where we can store the “use by” food and share it on certain days which will be advertised on Facebook and in the Bridge. Food waste is the third biggest source of pollution so we will be making a contribution to preserving the planet for our grandchildren, as well as saving money.
If anyone would like to help, by collecting the food from the Coop and shops or by helping with the Friday stall please contact Jan Silburn 07881 813835 or email j.silburn@btinternet.com
